Fix compiler warnings

Original development was with g++ 6.3, other compilers report warnings that should be fixed. (This is only about warnings fixable in the project module)

TODO:

• debian:9 clang build (!14 (merged))
• Check for further warnings in other jobs (there don't appear to be any)
